Letterbox’d

According to my good friend, Gem, (👀) there are 15,000 “good” movies. To watch all of them, you’d have to sit in front of the TV 24 hours a day for 3 years to watch them all.

This summer, in my quest to have the best Letterbox’d profile of any fourteen year old I know, I set out to watch every film ever made by Wes Anderson.

I Believe Wes Anderson to be one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. I’m not sure what it is exactly, but something about his movies have such other-worldliness in a way I can’t really describe. It’s the colors and the costumes and simply the style of acting done by the actors. I just feel connected to it in a sense. I wouldn’t have felt that connection without letterbox’d really. I found out about it through a friend and at first, I wrote maybe one review then forgot about the site. That is until I crossed paths with another cinephile at school and decided it was about time to hop back on the site. Now, I had already loved “Fantastic Mr. Fox” since I was little, but I didn’t really know about Wes Anderson or any of his other films. I saw some reviews on his movies that friends had written and thought I ought to watch some more of his films. WOWZA those are some of the best movies I have ever seen. I felt cool writing reviews for movies, getting to say I had seen and loved them, and so Letterbox’d had me hooked. I wrote review after review adding things to my watchlist then later binging movies until I a good “Films” list built up. I followed all the cool cinematographers at my school on the app and learned from their reviews and favorites lists. I became addicted. Sometimes, I stay up late at night writing reviews and searching for niche movies to add to my lists. Recently I have become more normal about my activity on my letterbox’d, but I remember the early user craze I had. Something about letterbox’d pulls you in and gets you addicted for those first couple of months or so, but don’t get me wrong, Letterbox’d is life and it always will be. I’m still on it almost everyday, but there’s nothing quite like first couple of reviews you write on that app. I guess it just means you’re a true film lover. Who knows? All I’m sure of is that only cool people are on Letterbox’d, so I encourage you to hop on and write a review.
