Chaco Tan for Life
The easiest way to tell if your summer was actually lit is how deep your chaco tan is.
Every year on June 6th, my family abandons Los Angeles for the land of Chacos and Patagonias.
For those who don’t know, chacos are a sandal type water shoe with quite a lot of straps. Every summer, I am a counselor at a camp in Idaho, where every sensible counselor had a pair of chacos. I really have no idea why, maybe it’s because they’re comfortable, maybe it’s because they are easy to slip on, it’s definitely not because of the “wide” range of patterns they have to offer. Anyways, your true Idahoan-ness is based off of how deep your chaco tan is. The all mighty chaco tan pretty much just looks like a a white z slapped on your foot, but it is so much more than that. It shows skill and experience, no matter the insane look of it when you wear flip flops. Before you start to think, “There’s no way these counselors take a insane tan line on your feet this seriously,” Listen when I tell you I have had friends put tanning oil only on there feet before going to work. Pretty serious now, isn’t it? Therefore, I would like to say my chaco tan is pretty gnarly and I am proud of it.
