I just got back from a family trip where the main source of transportation is golf carts. For a little bit of context, last year my cousin was driving me around during the same annual family get trip and long story short we crashed into another golf cart. It was not good. There were consequences. So I already had a little bit of trauma with golf carts. That being said, during the recent week of vacation, I was having a great timing driving those golf carts. I would zoom down the road without a care in the world. By the end of the week, I felt pretty confident driving on my own or even driving my friends. That is until I was driving back to the main lodge by myself on an empty road. I thought my golf cart trauma was over. Going at perhaps a higher speed on gravel than I should have, I turned a sharp corner and fear descended. When I tell you, I came so so so close to flipping that golf cart... like I felt the right hand side of the cart temporarily leave the ground. Okay, Universe! Message received! I was careful to slow down around the corners and figured after that, nothing bad would happen. But I guess the universe hates me. I realized I left something in my room one night, so of course I quickly hopped in the golf cart and speedily drove back. On my way there, the road was empty (or so I thought), therefore I thought it was okay to go faster than normal, when all of a sudden a certain family friend sped around the corner driving in the middle of the road, like a maniac! Inches away from getting crashed into, I swerved into the bushes yelling, “OH SHIT!” in slow motion, and at the same time, turning to look at my family friend who is joyously yelling, “AYYYY!!” at me while doing finger guns. Not one inch of effort was made to stop or slow the cart. My soul truly left my body. I don’t blame him though, now looking back I find the situation kind of funny. Anyways, that’s the end of my golf cart horror.
